Home Art Studio {Review}

One of the subjects I always looked forward to in school was art class. We usually had a fun teacher who had us try all kinds of mediums, projects and wild ideas to get our imaginations flowing! But now that my son is in Kindergarten, I wasn’t quite sure where to start his passion for art. Luckily, I found a program with Home Art Studio, which quickly became one of his favorite lesson time!

How awesome is it to have an art teacher right in your home! Ms. Volin is a wonderful instructor and she breaks down the lesson into manageable parts, depending on the age group.

I love that all of the art supplies come delivered together (but you could also purchase separately if you needed to)! All I had to do was pop the DVD into my computer for the lesson plans and the list of materials I’d need for the first lesson, then I got my son set up and turned the first art lesson on.

Oh he was hooked! The first lesson was in learning about primary colors and mixing them to get the “side kick” colors. He got to work on tracing his hand with a pencil, then painting inside the lines, and finally only around the outside of his hands.

At the end of each lesson, he is thrilled with his creation. It may not be spot on, but he’s 5 years old so…it ok! What I love most is his feeling of accomplishment and that he is getting art lessons from a trained instructor, not just what mom can piece together on her own. Plus, he can usually handle the whole thing start to finish by himself, as long as I’ve set out the supplies ahead of time.

This terrific instructional series is available for K-5th grades and each DVD set includes art projects, lessons in shapes, colors, famous artists and more. These can be used as material for once a week or once a day, depending on how eager your student may be.

You can learn more about the Home Art Studio on their website, as well as connect with them on Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube.

And I have great news for our readers today. Home Art Studio has graciously given us an entire set of DVDs to give away (K-5) to one lucky reader! Good luck!
