Have you ever been smack dab in the middle of a bad day? In that moment when you feel like nothing else could possibly go wrong, it does! How many times are we in that situation and our knee jerk reactions make the problem worse?
I know first hand how easy it is to let the emotions of the day get to you. Your nerves are shot. Your patience is at an all time low. Then in the midst of it all someone calls or adds to the frustration – and you loose it. You let the emotions of the day take control and they make the situation 5 times worse.
If we would just step away from the situation to cool off a bit before responding we would save ourselves a lot of back pedaling. Getting away to a quiet place can clear our heads (and our hearts) to be more equipped to handle the situation. Usually when we step back and breathe before responding we realize the situation really isn’t as bad as originally thought.
When we let God soften us a little we are able to handle difficult days with grace and love. He can help us to walk in love with our children, spouse, friends and family. I want people to recognize the tenderness of Christ within me, not the harsh initial response that first comes up.
You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Matthew 7:16
