This is my second year homeschooling and it still feels like my first. I’m still struggling to find our groove and to figure out what our homeschool looks like. I imagine it’s something that will take some time to figure out, if I ever figure it out at all. Last year I was watched from the sidelines during the homeschool convention season. All of my local homeschool friends went to the statewide conference last year and had nothing but wonderful things to say about it. Even Twitter was a buzz with news of the conference!
As a single, homeschooling mom I often miss out on the support systems and encouragement that other homeschool families benefit from. The local organizations have meetings late at night when I don’t have a babysitter and they don’t provide childcare. The co-ops have activities for school aged children but don’t allow younger siblings to tag along. I don’t have anyone to leave my little guy with to accompany my older son on things like that so we don’t participate. There are homeschool conferences that are just way too expensive for my limited budget. And even if I could go often there’s no children’s program or the program is expensive.
This year I started hearing about this amazing conference called . The conference focuses on not just homeschooling our children but raising them rooted in the Word as well! It seemed all of my homeschool blogging friends were gearing up for this conference. I started to look into it and was blown away by the speaker list: Sally Clarkson, Pam Tebow, Heidi St. John (just to name a few). I wanted to go! So I started looking at the dates and the locations and none were really close to my home in Florida.
I was disappointed. I really wanted to go to this conference so I started praying. A few days later I heard about their amazing . For less than $100 I could attend the conference with my children. I could gleam wisdom and encouragement while my boys were having vacation bible study style fun and learning about walking with the Lord.
I’m excited to share that we will be attending our very first homeschool convention this May. I’ll be at the My boys and I are driving from Florida to Tennessee and we are all counting down the days until we leave. My brother lives right outside of Nashville so we’ll be staying with him for a week for the conference and a little vacation!
I shared 10 reasons I’m excited for TTD on my blog a few months ago. All of those reasons are still true today (especially #9)! Would you like to go to this conference? (parents, grandparents, children) is less than $60. I’d love to meet you in Nashville. And many of the writers here at Homeschool Village will be there too.
This week’s series on Homeschool Conventions is being sponsored by Teach them Diligently Convention.

I can NOT wait to meet you! Yes, this is a gem of a conference. To know where they stand on God’s word – keeping Him first, it’s beautiful to witness and share with others. You’ll feel like you’re at home and surrounded by loved ones…. I’m so excited – I’m counting with you!
