Hi ladies!! I am so excited to start up the fall book club this week. Over the last few weeks we’ve been talking about it and today we officially start! Each Wednesday {beginning today} and through November 28, The Homeschool Village will host and lead a study through Journeys of Faithfulness by Sarah Clarkson.
For those of you who don’t know Sarah, she has been writing since her teen years and is the daughter of the well-loved Sally and Clay Clarkson. Sarah is also the author of Read for the Heart: Whole Books for WholeHearted Families.
About Journeys of Faithfulness
In this unique collection of inspirational stories and devotions based on the lives of Ruth, Esther, Mary and Martha, and Mary the mother of Jesus, you will celebrate the sacrifice and courage that made each these young single women biblical heroines and models for all times. In Journeys of Faithfulness, Sarah creatively and respectfully retells their stories and explores each of their journeys along God’s path of life. Each chapter also has a devotional in which Sarah shares her heart with the reader and challenges for today’s young women – to reach higher and go deeper in her relationship with Christ.
Introduction to the Book Club
Today, we’re going to cover a few of the basics for those of you who are just joining us {don’t worry, it’s not too late!}. Over the last few weeks I have been reading through the book and have been underlining parts, going deeper with the Bible studies at the end of each chapter, and cannot wait to hear more of your thoughts on the book in the weeks to come.
Here’s what you’ll need to have ready to start up with us next week:
- A copy of Journeys of Faithfulness by Sarah Clarkson. You can order it through Apologia, via Amazon, download it to your Kindle, or grab it in iTunes. {For those of you who love a Kindle edition – we’ll have printables to go along, so grab a copy of Journeys of Faithfulness today and start reading!}
- Print off the Binder cover and Reading Schedule. Each week we’ll have additional printables to go along with the weekly reading and verses. The printables will just give you extra room to journal as you read. There is plenty of journal space at the end of each book chapter as well.
- Download the Week 1 Journal Pages ~ if you are doing the study along with your daughter, print off an extra copy.
- Join the Book Club Facebook page to meet other ladies that are a part of the group.
Weekly Book Club Format
Since we’ll be posting each Wednesday, the weekly schedule is set up to start on Thursdays.
Here’s a look at how each week is set up:
- Thursday – read the assigned chapter
- Friday – read the Bible passage and answer the journal question
- Weekend – read the devotional at the end of the chapter
- Monday – read the Bible passage and answer the journal question
- Tuesday – read the Bible passage and answer the journal question
- Wednesday – participate in the weekly wrap-up here. We’ll also be starting a Facebook page so that we can interact more during the week and share what God is putting on your hearts.
That’s it! I really hope that you all will join in with us as we start this book together and go deeper in our relationships with each other and Christ. I’ll be honest and say that getting personal can really be a struggle for me – so we’ll be in this together! And although the subtitle of the book says for ‘young Christian women’ – be encouraged!! We all are young {either at heart or truly young in age!}. If you have a daughter that is a teenager, consider doing this study with her as well.
Will you be joining in with us?

Any suggestions on printing the reading schedule on an iPad?? I tried opening in dropbox, adobe reader, noterize, and iBooks and there are just blanks on the reading schedule.
Ticia says
Sigh, just realized it’s not on Nook. Double sigh.

I plan to do this study with my new teen (13). Looking forward to this and showing her how important quality time is in a book/bible study. I couldn’t print the schedule, black lines came up where scriptures and pages should be. :/

Is there a special code to get the Kindle version for 3.99? When I checked it is listed at 9.99.
Andrea says
Yes, I was wondering this, too.
Emilee says
I plan on doing this study. Thanks for the opportunity.
Melissa says
This looks like exactly what I am needing. As a newbie homeschool mom, I could really benefit from this study and some time spent on my own growth and walk. Thank you!

This is an answer to prayer! How do I join in?
